Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in India located near Hospet town in the Karnataka state. Situated at an altitude of approximately 1600 feet above sea level. Vast stretches of boulder-strewn hills make the backdrop of Hampi unique. Dotted around the hills and valleys are 500 plus monuments. Among them are beautiful temples, ruins of palaces, remains of aquatic structures, ancient market streets, royal pavilions, bastions, royal platforms and treasury buildings

Hubli, or Hubballi, is a city in the south Indian state of Karnataka. Nrupatunga Betta hill offers sunset and city views. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the centuries-old Chandramouleshwara Temple has black granite pillars and ornate carvings. Gardens surround Unkal Lake, which features a statue of monk Swami Vivekananda in its center. South of the city, Utsav Rock Garden is home to sculptures depicting local folk culture.

The name Gokarna is made of two words, gau meaning cow and karna meaning ear, translating to cow’s ear. The reason for such a name is associated with its roots in mythology and also its geography. According to one story, the reason for naming this place Gokarna is because it is at the confluence of two rivers Gangavati and Aghanashini and this looks like a cow’s ear.

A popular pilgrimage town, Murudeshwar sees a large number of tourists flocking the town every year. The main attraction of the town is the Murudeshwar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Built on a hill, the shrine is placed two feet below the ground and is believed to be part of the original Atma lingam. While only priests are allowed in the inner sanctum, there is a Natraj statue made of brass and a Jattiga shrine inside the temple.

Manipal is a suburb within the city of Udupi in Karnataka and is administered by the Udupi City Municipality. It is located on the rocky hinterland of Coastal Karnataka, about 65 km north of Mangalore and 8 km east of the Arabian Sea.
